Gynecology

Gynecology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the health of the female reproductive system. It involves diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, vagina, vulva and breasts. Gynecologists provide preventive care such as Pap smears and breast exams to detect any abnormalities or infections. They also diagnose and treat menstrual disorders, infertility issues, menopause symptoms, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), pelvic pain and endometriosis. Gynecologists may also perform surgeries such as hysterectomies or laparoscopies to treat certain conditions.
