Obstetrics

Obstetrics is the branch of medicine that deals with pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It encompasses a wide range of services including prenatal care, labor and delivery management, post-delivery care for both mother and baby, as well as neonatal care. Obstetricians provide comprehensive medical care to women throughout their reproductive life cycle. This includes preventive health screenings such as Pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams, and genetic testing; diagnosis and treatment of infertility or other reproductive issues; management of high-risk pregnancies; labor induction; pain relief during labor; cesarean section delivery; and postpartum follow-up visits.
