Any damage to the tendons or pressure around the nerves of the hands can cause symptoms such as numbness, a tingling sensation, tightness, and an inability to flex the fingers or wrists. You may need to work with an orthopedic surgeon to restore the proper functioning of the hands and fingers. We perform the following at our practice:

Carpal Tunnel Release

Patients diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome may need to undergo a carpal tunnel release procedure. Your surgeon will need to cut the ligament that covers the carpal tunnel to ease pressure on the median nerve. In some cases, small amounts of tissue around the nerve will be removed.

Guyons Tunnel Release

If you have been diagnosed with Guyons canal syndrome because of overuse of the wrist or any damage to the nerve inside Guyons canal, you may need to undergo a Guyon's tunnel release procedure. The surgery involves releasing the ligament that crosses over the top of the ulnar nerve to take pressure off the nerve.

Cubital Tunnel Release

Numbness on the inside of the hand is one of the most common symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome. The cubital tunnel release procedure works to release pressure on the ulnar nerve where it passes through the cubital tunnel. This is achieved with the ulnar nerve transposition technique where the ulnar nerve is moved out of the cubital tunnel and placed in a new tunnel or by removing the medial epicondyle on the inside edge of the elbow.

Trigger Finger Release

If the tendons in your fingers or thumb are limited because of the trigger finger, you will need to undergo trigger finger release surgery to restore the proper functioning of your hands and fingers. This procedure widens the opening of the tunnel so that the tendon can slide through it easily. Most people are able to move their fingers immediately after surgery.

Dupuytrens Release

Dupuytrens contracture is a hand deformity that typically affects the ring finger or little finger. The Dupuytrens release procedure involves removing palmar fascia under the skin without damaging nearby nerves and blood vessels.

DeQuervains Release

When the tendons around the base of the thumb become irritated or constricted in any way, there may be some swelling and significant discomfort. DeQuervaains release surgery involves opening up the thumb compartment to make room for the irritated tendons.
