Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance is supplemental insurance that individuals purchase to complement their existing life insurance and disability insurance that may be offered by their employers. AD&D insurance does not replace your existing insurance, but acts to balance the coverage, should you suffer an accident that results in the loss of a limb, sight or hearing, or even time spent in a coma. Most accidental death is covered and would result in your beneficiaries receiving the amount of your insurance. In the case of dismemberment, your policy will spell out the specific damages that would be covered, up to the amount of your policy, depending on the injury suffered.
